Testing a Libra III for aerial work

The original Megamount was conceived around 1992 at Shepperton Studios. In 1994 one Megamount was sufficiently stabilised for use on Braveheart. Four of the original Megamounts made it into the world, for use both on cranes, etc and on helicopters.

At the end of 1995, the design of the Libra III began, with the aim of encompassing both ideas of the Megamount and the Libra II (which was a stabilised-only head) together into one piece of equipment.

By mid/late 1996 the equipment was launched. In 1999 the Libra III was given the SOC Technical achievement Award and in 2000, the Libra III won the AMPTAS Techincal Oscar.

In 1999 the design of the Mega III began as it was felt that the system had been ignored during the evolution of the Libra III. So the Mega III design was started afresh with a clean sheet of paper. The rest, as they say, is history. The Mega III is now available in 5 continents.
